Hi Guys,

I've been in IT industry since 1993 but I'm from poor country (Sri Lanka). Most of the time I worked in hardware and I like more in to hardware and networking I've done my MCP in NT4.0 and MCSE and MCSA in Win2K but I don't have much working experience and I haven't done my computer education for long after I quit from my employment after 2002. I need to start up my IT career again. What is the best way to start and I need it to start ASAP because my age is now 31? Please help me out.

Expert's answer

Start by reading Ron Nutter's job hunt blog and Tips for finding IT work online.

Look into refreshing your credentials and keep your eyes open for positions that list the certifications you hold as minimum requirements. Pick your particular IT passion and start contributing to relevant online communities where you can. Work on building your personal network and expanding your contacts. Treat the job hunt like a job.

Use the Internet to find employment sites specific to Sri Lanka like http://www.topjobs.lk/ or whatever region you are seeking to find work in. Stay focused, keep the most positive attitude you can and keep at it. And good luck.
