Streamlining IT processes? What a hoot! Most companies senior management team are clueless. Most of them regard security as the dominion of the IT gurus and not something they should emulate from the top down. I guess the execs still believe their porn surfing is above the law?
Stakeholders, execs and users all need to embrace the idea that Information Technology is strictly a business tool. The idea that they can all surf, send email or IM friends and family only opens them and the business to exploit and attack. How would an employee feel about the business closing because they sent an inflammatory email to the wrong person? Every action has a consequence, and until the people at the top start taking IT security and user education seriously, hitting the pay dirt will be just another worthless expression. The only dirt hitting anything will be the company's good name being drug through it.
