In 1983 I was in the military, and I remember reading about every one of these! Makes me feel like an old fart. I'm now a geek (engineer) and the impact of many of these to our world is indisputable...even the movie "War Games" spawned an entire generation of wannabe hackers and cybercriminals. I hate to admit it, but I had the "WarGames Dialer" for my trusty C-64 and a 300bps modem. Never did anything criminal, but it was thrilling to hear that carrier come across!
