Poor idea

My company was migrated to Outlook a year ago and it was a poor decision. The interface is better than Release 7 (but not Release 8) but searching, filing and client stability has been poor. We still use our Lotus applications. Not managing ID files is easier for IT but the loss of functionality has hurt everyone else.

Office isn't Exchange.

Come on now. The real comparison that everyone's interested in is Exchange vs Domino.

Trying to include Office and Sharepoint as proof they're taking Notes licenses is highly inaccurate.

Nevermind they tend to bundle all of that in EAs and other licensing schemes such that the "sale" includes more than what they really use.

Amazing that all the dopes in the press and many customers don't see this scam for what it is. All MSFT says isn't the truth.

Trust me, they aren't your friend.

Great improvement

Sharepoint delivers superb functionality and capabilities affordably. Excellent enterprise platform.

MOSS07 it the worst portal technology

MOSS07 is awful, its slow, messy, made my people who want to make money not by people who want to use software. Its terrible.

MOSS07

The success of a MOSS07 environment depends on how it is Envisioned, Configured and Implemented. If your environment is unsuccessful, has your organization considered getting an experienced MOSS consultant involved?

I've participated in hundreds of SharePoint projects and, like other software environments, seen great successes and dismal failures. However, envisioned, configured, and implemented correctly....SharePoint has more productivity potential, and immediate impact, than any tool I've seen in my 32 years of IT experience.

Moving to exchange from Domino - a real bad move

0

We had been using LN Domino for about 9 years with very few problems. My company moved us to exchange two months ago so we can get Microsoft CRM, essentially for nothing. Worse move we ever made. Compared to LN Outlook is very very slow, frequently needs the exchange server rebooted and after CRM was loaded it runs even slower. The contacts DB takes so many mouse clicks that I can't use it when talking on the phone. Staff discontent is rapidly rising, some staff are now using gmail on their own initiative. If this is what Microsoft call enterprise SW then they are dreaming.
