AV and Java often cause slowness

Although not directly related to network issues, often times slowness in applications can be traced back to impact by AV scanning issues. AV often causes very slow impact on Network drives or if Java is involved. During troubleshooting, turn of AV for a short period of time (as long as you are on the Internet, should be safe to do) and then see if Application response improves. If it does, further troubleshoot AV settings to determine settings which are safe for the computer and the application.

Increasing Complexity

0

This was a great article, since it spoke accurately of the increased complexity within the enterprise network. Old tools, processes, and methods are time consuming and the needle in the haystack is more elusive.

One particular new generation solution that can be a huge help for overworked network engineers is the network TiVo approach. The continuous recording and session replay virtually ensure that the needle has been captured and the problem can be instantly recreated rather than hoping you can capture reactively with a real-time Probe.

We use the GigaStor from Network Instruments and it rocks for a whole lot less than the InfiniStream! Everything was an expensive option from Network General or is it NetScout and Network Instruments included everything and more for $K's less.
