AccessKenya has recorded half year profits of 104 million Kenyan shillings (US$1.6 million), up 62 percent from the 64 million shilling profit reported over the same period last year.
"Delivery of ever increasing levels of speed has provided value for our customers, which has led to growth in customer numbers and increase in average revenue per user," said AK managing director Jonathan Somen.
The acquisition of Open View Business Systems and an emphasis on the core business in corporate services has solidified AK as a major player in the telecommunication industry. The launch of a product for home users, Access@ Home, is expected to capture the budding residential market.
AK was listed on the Nairobi Stock Exchange last year, and revenue has since increased by 76 percent, from 387 million shillings to 682 million shillings.
